On the Complexity of Simple and Optimal Deterministic Mechanisms for an Additive Buyer

چکیده
We show that the problem of finding an optimal bundle-pricing for a single additive buyer is #P-hard, even when the distributions have support size 2 for each item and the optimal solution is guaranteed to be a simple one: the seller picks a price for the grand bundle and a price for each individual item; the buyer can purchase either the grand bundle at the given price or any bundle of items at their total individual prices. We refer to this simple and natural family of pricing schemes as discounted item-pricings. In addition to the hardness result, we show that when the distributions are i.i.d. with support size 2, a discounted item-pricing can achieve the optimal revenue obtainable by lottery-pricings and it can be found in polynomial time. Integrated JIT Lot-Splitting Model with Setup Time Reduction for Different Delivery Policy using PSO Algorithm
This article develops an integrated JIT lot-splitting model for a single supplier and a single buyer. In this model we consider reduction of setup time, and the optimal lot size are obtained due to reduced setup time in the context of joint optimization for both buyer and supplier, under deterministic condition with a single product. Two cases are discussed: Single Delivery (SD) case, and Multi...
متن کاملBudget Feasible Mechanisms on Matroids
Motivated by many practical applications, in this paper we study budget feasible mechanisms where the goal is to procure independent sets from matroids. More specifically, we are given a matroid M = (E, I) where each ground (indivisible) element is a selfish agent. The cost of each element (i.e., for selling the item or performing a service) is only known to the element itself. There is a buyer...
متن کاملAn Integrated Production-Inventory Model with Backorder and Lot for Lot Policy
inventory model, backorder buyer , vendor, lot for lot policy In this paper, an inventory model for two-stage supply chain is investigated. A supply chain with single vendor and single buyer is considered. We assume that shortage as a backorder is allowed for the buyer and the vendor makes the production set up every time the buyer places an order and supplies on a lot for lot basis...
متن کاملImproved teaching–learning-based and JAYA optimization algorithms for solving flexible flow shop scheduling problems
Flexible flow shop (or a hybrid flow shop) scheduling problem is an extension of classical flow shop scheduling problem. In a simple flow shop configuration, a job having ‘g’ operations is performed on ‘g’ operation centres (stages) with each stage having only one machine. If any stage contains more than one machine for providing alternate processing facility, then the problem...
متن کاملBounds on the Menu-Size of Approximately Optimal Auctions via Optimal-Transport Duality
The question of the minimum menu-size for approximate (i.e., up-to-ε) Bayesian revenue maximization when selling two goods to an additive risk-neutral quasilinear buyer was introduced by Hart and Nisan (2013), who give an upper bound of O(1/ε4) for this problem. Using the optimal-transport duality framework of Daskalakis et al. (2013, 2015), we derive the first lower bound for this problem — of...
